ACCUSOFT’S SCIENTIFIC SOFTWARE HELPS NASA RESEARCH GROUP ANALYZE AND VISUALIZE SATELLITE DATA

VisiQuest™ Aids Precipitation Analysis Group by Speeding Analysis of Global Precipitation Data Collected by Domestic and International Satellites

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass., — May 24, 2005 — AccuSoft® Corporation announced today that the Precipitation Analysis Group (PAG) within NASA’s Laboratory for Atmospheres is using its VisiQuest scientific software application to analyze and visualize satellite precipitation data. Responsible for providing a major portion of the world’s supply of global rainfall estimates, the PAG selected VisiQuest due to its powerful visual programming environment that enables researchers to manipulate and more quickly understand vast amounts of precipitation-related data collected by approximately 13 different satellites.

Under the direction of NASA’s Dr. Robert Adler, the PAG leverages VisiQuest in part to produce a number of highly visual precipitation images that are posted on a NASA Web site, http://precip.gsfc.nasa.gov/. The PAG’s newest offering, the global real-time 3-hourly Multi-Satellite Precipitation Analysis, is being used by international relief agencies around the world in order to assess potential risks to critical rainfall-sensitive food resources and to quickly detect potentially catastrophic rainfall-driven floods and landslides. Hurricane research, experimental El Niño forecasts, and global climate modeling also leverage this important data.

“We simply don’t have time to spend writing macros, and remembering the order of certain parameters,” said George Huffman, Technical Area Project Manager, Science Systems and Applications Incorporated. “VisiQuest, with its visual programming interface, enables us to quickly and easily visualize and analyze our data, not just read it. We appreciate that the product allows us to automatically create high-quality graphical depictions of the data for use online as well as for technical papers and presentations.”

“The work that NASA’s PAG is doing is extremely important both here in the U.S. and internationally, and we’re highly gratified to be part of this initiative,” stated Tom Leone, President, AccuSoft Corporation. “VisiQuest has proven to be an invaluable tool to scientists and researchers in commercial and government sectors, in addition to academia. We’re fully committed to working with our expanding client base to ensure that it remains the de facto standard for complex data and image analysis processing and visualization.”

AccuSoft’s VisiQuest product includes more than 1,000 state-of-the-art methods for data and image analysis processing and visualization. Its powerful yet intuitive visual programming environment enables non-programmers to quickly and easily build applications by simply dragging and dropping icons on the screen. As a result, users can create a visualization tool, target acquisition project, or signal processing application from prototype to completed product in significantly less time and with significantly less effort.
