PDF FILE CREATION IN PDFXPRESS™ JUST RELEASED BY PEGASUS IMAGING

TAMPA, FL, April 27, 2005 - Pegasus Imaging, the leader in image compression software development toolkits, today increased the PDF support in PDFXpress with the release of a new Professional edition. Delivered as a software development toolkit, PDFXpress empowers developers requiring PDF support within their own applications. The PDFXpress Professional edition supports PDF file creation and viewing using licensed Adobe® technology.

PDFXpress is delivered as both a Microsoft .NET component and COM control. It reads most PDF files that Adobe Acrobat® supports, creates new PDF files, and adds pages to existing files. PDFXpress is ideal for integration within document imaging software applications.

PDFXpress creates both bitonal and color image PDF files. Support for single and multi-page files, bookmarks, and thumbnails are delivered with this release. Additional flexibility such as merging files, splitting files, and deleting pages is also offered.

PDFXpress Professional expands on the features delivered within the original Reader edition. PDFXpress Professional delivers both read and write support. PDFXpress Reader is offered for those requiring only PDF viewing capability. Both editions read Native PDF, Post Script-based PDF, bitonal and color image files. Pegasus Imaging's ImagXpress toolkit is used to support additional file format conversion and compression beyond PDF.

“Today, we are empowering our customers with the ability to create PDF files within customer applications, eliminating the need to use an external application,” says John Leonard, business development manager at Pegasus Imaging. “Customers can apply the PDF format using PDFXpress Professional wrapped around JBIG2 image compression from ImagXpress to minimize PDF file sizes. It’s a natural progression in the Pegasus Imaging development strategy to support our customers with the technologies they require, relieving them of the need to look elsewhere when they can get it all from one company.”
