Pegasus Imaging Delivers PICTools Image Compression Technologies for 64-bit |
| TAMPA, FL, May 14, 2008 - Pegasus Imaging Corporation today announces the availability of PICTools™ medical image compression technologies for 64-bit Sun® Solaris® platforms. This release includes compression and decompression of JPEG 2000 (including JPIP, 3D, high bit depths), Lossy JPEG (sequential), Lossless JPEG (including high bit depths), and JPEG-LS (lossless and near lossless) image files. These image compression technologies are standards-based, and optimized for speed, size and quality by Pegasus Imaging scientists. They are currently available for 32-bit Windows®, Linux, Solaris, and IBM® AIX®; and also for 64-bit platforms including Windows, Linux, and Solaris. They are available as high-performance, low-level C libraries in the PICTools™ Software Development Kit (SDK). PICTools technologies are licensed per technology used, per platform. PICTools technologies can be ported on request to other environments that are not currently supported. “Our PICTools libraries continue to deliver maximum performance for standards-based medical image compression and decompression on a wide variety of platforms, and can be ported virtually anywhere,” says Chris Lubeck, vice president of development at Pegasus Imaging. “PICTools forms the technology basis for higher-level .NET and ActiveX COM toolkits also offered by Pegasus Imaging.” Enterprises, ISVs, OEMs, VARs, and integrators benefit from Pegasus Imaging’s technical proficiency in speed-optimized image compression.
