ScanFix Xpress v6 SDK Released for Scanned Color Image Cleanup by Accusoft Pegasus

TAMPA, Fla. - September 10, 2009 - Accusoft Pegasus, recognized worldwide as the largest provider of imaging software development kits (SDKs), today announces the release of ScanFix Xpress Version 6. This SDK introduces color and grayscale document image cleanup, in addition to black/white document image cleanup. ScanFix Xpress enhances image quality, prepares images for further processing such as OCR, improves content recognition accuracy, and creates smaller compressed files.

“ScanFix Xpress v6 introduces color and grayscale image cleanup to document imaging and forms processing application developers,” says Rick Scanlan, director of sales engineering at Accusoft Pegasus. “Most production scanners today provide a color scanning option. While storage has become fairly economical, color images still require considerably more storage space than black and white images. ScanFix Xpress can reduce compressed file sizes and make a significant improvement on OCR, ICR or forms processing activities.”

The new version delivers a large number of new color and grayscale image processing features. Automatic Color Detection analyzes image content then recommends if images should remain color or can safely be converted to bitonal. Greatly improved Automatic Binarization is provided for converting grayscale and color images to bitonal. Brightness and Contrast Adjustment is now available. Color Drop removes specified colors from an image. Image Detergent® reduces color noise and variation, and is particularly useful for removing JPEG compression artifacts around characters. Virtual Bulb™ emulates a color dropout scanner. In addition, Deskew, Border Removal, Blank Page/Rectangle Detection, Dilate/Erode, and more are now available within ScanFix Xpress for color and grayscale images.

The ScanFix Xpress SDK allows developers to build applications targeting both 64-bit and 32-bit Windows .NET architectures. The .NET components included with ScanFix Xpress are compiled as AnyCPU. ScanFix Xpress is optimized for use in Visual Studio 2005 and 2008, and is fully compliant for use in .NET Framework 2.0 and higher. ScanFix Xpress is also available as a 32-bit ActiveX for deployment on 32-bit or 64-bit CPUs as a 32-bit application.
